Nicolette Good, a Houston native, got her musical start in San Antonio after graduating from Trinity University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music. She began by playing open mics, performing in other artists’ projects, and making her first recording. In 2012, she was called “Best Singer/Songwriter” by The San Antonio Current, and in 2011 San Antonio Magazine named her “Reader’s Choice for Best Musician.” The following year, her songs earned her a winners’ spot at the Kerrville New Folk competition.

In 2014 — months before releasing her third recording, “Little Boat on a Wave” — Nicolette Good was faced with a life-threatening infection requiring five surgeries on her brain and head. The fluke illness left her with partial numbness of the left hand. In order to cope and continue to play guitar, she took creative approaches to occupational therapy such as practicing on a left-handed guitar as well as re-focusing performance technique not on the hand but on the entire body.

Since her triumphant recovery, Good has toured The Netherlands with Austin-based artist Erin Ivey; supported Mason Jennings; and opened for Jimmie Dale Gilmore (of The Flatlanders) and Dave Alvin in San Antonio and Denton.

About Nicolette Good

Nicolette Good is a Texas singer-songwriter and 2012 Kerrville New Folk winner. In a voice that’s at once refined and raw, Nicolette sings with penetrating insight about hope, wrenching love, and the mysteries of everyday life. Her effortless storytelling shines on her latest release “Little Boat on a Wave” (2015) in toe-tappers like “Union Jack,” “Tehuacana,” and the title track, which was inspired by actual events. Several cuts from Little Boat were composed during an artist fellowship at The Lighthouse Works in Fishers Island, New York.
